Myanmar authorities arrested 18 Rohingya Muslims in Yangon district on charges of leaving Arakan state without government permits and attempting to flee to Malaysia.
Sources told Arakan news agency that the detainees came from the city of Akyab, 16 young men and two women who wanted to go to Malaysia through another broker for 13 thousand Myanmar Kyat each.
According to state media, the authorities are still searching for others involved in the operation.
