Myanmar and Thailand cooperate in promoting investment and trade

The Myanmar and Thailand Securities Committees have agreed to cooperate in promoting investment and trade between the two countries, the New Global of Myanmar newspaper reported on Thursday.
The two sides will exchange their experiences according to the memorandum of understanding recently signed in Yangon.
Training courses for the development of human resources in Myanmar will soon be launched to enhance the building capacity of the Myanmar Securities Commission, in accordance with the memorandum of understanding.
Trade between Myanmar and neighboring Thailand exceeded ASEAN trade with Myanmar, reaching 1.89 billion US dollars in August of fiscal year 2017-2018.
In the first five months of this fiscal year, trade between Myanmar and members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) amounted to 4.3 billion US dollars, according to statistics from the Ministry of Commerce.
