Ms Yanghee Lee visited Kyauk Phyu IDP camp and met IDPs

The United Nation Special Rapporteur Ms Yanghee Lee visited Kyauk Ta Lone IDP camp, Kyauk Phyu township,Arakan at about 3:30pm yesterday 11.7.2017. And met with Kaman IDPs and Rohingya IDPs.

The IDPs explained their suffering and about the human rights violations they faced also about the forced resettlement from original places, lack of healthcare and educational assistance, free movement and citizenship issues.

A question was asked by Ms Yanghee Lee , “Is there Rohingya people in your region?”

The IDPs answered, “Yes. Of course. There are lots of documents that prove that they’re Rohingya and belong to Arakan.”

Then Ms Yanghee Lee continued by asking, ” So,how do you say about so called illegal immigrant Bengali?

The IDPs, said ” It is just false allegation and fabrication. There are only two Muslim groups in Arakan, those are Kaman and Rohingya. No Bengali.
