Turkish “TiKA” develops school facilities for the deaf in Myanmar

The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TiKA) has provided assistance to a school for the Deaf in Myanmar, as well as its maintenance.
Turkish Prime Minister said in a statement on Tuesday that they had maintained and improved the gymnasium of Mary Chapman School for the Deaf, which has been active since 1918 in Yangon.
The statement also referred to the provision of study materials for students, as well as equipment for the school.
During the handover ceremony, Turkey’s Ambassador in Naypyidaw, Karam Diwanli Oglu, stressed his country’s keenness to help various social groups in Myanmar.
Turkey supported the cultural and ethnic diversity of Myanmar. The statement said.
In turn, the head of the school, “Daw Nyunt Thein”, thanked Turkey for the assistance as it provided through TIKA, and its contribution to the involvement of deaf youth in social life.
TiKA’s educational activities continue in Myanmar this year through projects such as the Library, the establishment of a nursery and a primary school.
