Former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan on Wednesday presented his final report on Arakan, where Rohingya faces widespread abuses by the government.
Annan, appointed by government adviser Aung San Suu Kyi an year ago, submitted the report to President Htin Kyaw in the capital, Naypyidaw, the committee said in a statement.
Former Secretary-General is due to meet Suu Kyi on Wednesday or Thursday to discuss the violence in Arakan against Rohingya by Buddhists.
Committee member Ian Lowen said earlier this month that the final report contained recommendations for resolving the dispute.
“This will not include alleged human rights violations in northern Arakan,” he told Anadolu news agency.
A security crackdown launched in October last year in Maungdaw, where Rohingya constituted the majority, resulted in thousands fleeing for serious abuses. The United Nations reported on human rights abuses committed by the security forces and referred to crimes against humanity.
The United Nations has documented cases of mass rape, killings, including children, brutal beatings and disappearances. Representatives of the Rohingya said about 400 people died during the operation
