Germany plans to take part in the reconstruction of the historic city of Pagan in Myanmar, which was devastated a year ago by a massive earthquake.
The German Foreign Ministry announced that the German government is also supporting a project to train stone relics, as well as the restoration of a temple within the temple complex in the city, dating back centuries.
The most famous temple complex in Myanmar are located in Pagan, was severely damaged by the August 24, 2016 earthquake measuring 6.8 on the Richter scale.
The number of temples affected by the earthquake is about 400 temples, out of a total of more than 2,000 temples.
Myanmar seeks to include Pagan in the World Heritage List of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). UNESCO is expected to receive the official nomination from Myanmar in the coming months.
