Office of the President of the Government of Myanmar said that two members of the security forces were wounded in a clash with militants on the border with Bangladesh in the troubled Arakan State, which questioned the government ‘s claims that the situation in the region stabilized.
The government said last week that the situation in Arakan State north of the country has stabilized and they have ended the crackdown lasted four months against Rohingya Muslims.
Those security operations began since nine policemen were killed in attacks on security posts near the border with Bangladesh on the ninth of October. The United Nations estimates that about 69 thousand of Rohingya minority have since fled to Bangladesh.
The United Nations said that the security crackdown in the region may amount to crimes against humanity and ethnic cleansing possible.
A statement from the prime minister ‘s office in late on Saturday evening that two soldiers were wounded in the clash lasted only five minutes with an armed group on the border with Bangladesh on Friday afternoon.
The statement added : ” The forces believed that the workers who are preparing to build a border fence … was attacked by about 30 unidentified gunman on the hills in Bangladesh , ” noting that the gunmen withdrew when the security forces started to exchange them with fire.
The office said in a short statement that security forces are still gathering information on the number of dead and wounded in the ranks of the armed group.
It could not be reached immediately for border guards in Bangladesh.
