Indonesian President Joko Widodo announced, the Indonesian government will be established within the earliest possible assistance to connect Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar.
Widodo’s remarks came after a meeting with the former Secretary General of the United Nations, Chairman of the Advisory Committee of Arakan, Mr. Kofi Annan, where they discussed the recent events in Myanmar and locations to provide assistance for the Rohingya Muslims there.
The meeting was held in the Indonesian island of Bali, Widodo said at a press conference after the meeting, he said that the Indonesian government will continue as soon as possible to aid Rohingya Muslims.
He reported that he has given the necessary instructions to the ministers concerned, for the delivery of emergency aid to the Rohingya Muslims soon, explaining that he will send food and medical instruments and covers the first phase, and then to send aid in the long term.
The Indonesian Foreign Minister, Ritno Marsudi, visited Myanmar, two days ago, and met with his Myanmar counterpart Ms. Aung San Suu Kyi.
Marsudi said in remarks after the meeting that the Government of Myanmar has agreed to receive aid by Indonesia for Rohingya Muslims .
