“Qatar Charity ‘Association submitted a new batch of food aid to the displaced people’s camps in Myanmar as part of continued aid relief to them since the end of 2013.
The organization said in a press statement that the number of beneficiaries of this aid amounted to 5,568 people, bringing the total number of benefited from Qatar Charity relief in these camps to 198,564 people over the period of three years.
The aid that was distributed last month in cooperation with the Turkish humanitarian organization IHH was represented, in the food baskets included dry rations to help families to secure basic supplies of food for a whole month, such as rice, beans, cooking oil, pepper and canned fish.
And Mr Mohammed Al Kaabi, Director of Qatar Charity said this ventures happens because of the support by the generous people of Qatar to the needy people in the world, including Muslims in Myanmar, stressing that Qatar Charity is aware of the religious and moral duty towards the needy, they are even ready to rescue refugees in the tense areas.
He stated that “Qatar Charity” carried out several projects in Myanmar since December 2013, at a cost of more than 11 million and 500 thousand Qatari riyals, benefiting 198 thousand and 564 people so far.
He said which included the reconstruction of some of the areas affected by the events in collaboration with the High Commissioner of the United Nations, (UNHCR), and the provision of health care services also the distribution of non-food items in coordination with Mercy Malaysia’s organization, a project of sacrificial animals and breaking fasting for the needy during Ramadan with Usman Consulting UK, as well as for the distribution of food parcels in Sittwe IDP camps in Myanmar with the Turkish relief organization IHH and development.
