Eyewitnesses told Arakan News Agency that the incident occurred on July 5, when the truck was delivering goods to the village of Nanthataung but was unable to withstand the force of the current.
They added that the two individuals inside the truck Win Myat Tun (33) and Pyay Phyu Aung (41) from the village of Aung Mingalar managed to escape unharmed.
Arakan State is currently experiencing rising water levels due to runoff from mountain streams, leading to flooding in low-lying areas across several towns, including Maungdaw, Buthidaung, Mrauk-U, Kyaukphyu, Minbya, and Myebon.
Recent torrential rains in Maungdaw have also caused flooding in villages, schools, and roads, and led to the drowning deaths of two women.
Since May 26, Arakan State has been facing heavy rains and severe flooding, submerging Rohingya homes and farmlands in Maungdaw. In June, several towns including Kyauktaw witnessed major floods due to persistent downpours.
