It is only under the gravest danger that Rohingya people are forced to flee Burma. They escape Burma with hope for a safer life.
But instead they are transferred to the hands of human traffickers who rape and severely assault them, treating them worse than animals.
So ultimately, they arrive in Thailand where they are living in great hardships. Having left Burma or Bangladesh, with great expectations of freedom, they find it very difficult to survive without legal document from UNHCR.
They board fishing boats hoping to register as refugees. After suffering seasickness and overcrowded conditions they are taken to Thailand and Malaysia.
Those who reach Malaysia and Thailand face life in filthy and overcrowded detention centres. They have no timeline for their stay and have no access to proper health care, food and basic needs.
After a dangerous and desperate journey for a better life, they face some of the harshest policies towards asylum seekers. Who are investing in helping the most persecuted Rohingya peoples rebuild their life? Why are we silent? What are we doing about these Rohingya people suffering in prison? No one is visiting there.
My request to all — please remind and request international community, UN and Human Rights to release those who are suffering for a long time in the prisons of Bangladesh,Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and other countries without any voice!
