The Director General of the Arakan Rohingya Union (ARU) Professor Wakar Uddin met with the ambassadors of Saudi Arabia and Kuwait at United Nations Headquarters on Wednesday and discussed with them ways to support and promote the Rohingya issue in international forums.
This meeting comes before the meeting of the Social, Human and Cultural Committee (Third Committee) of the United Nations General Assembly.
In a statement to the Arakan news agency, Dr. Wakar Uddin said that Kuwait’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Mansour Al-Otaibi, presented several ideas for preparing before the session.
The Permanent Representative of the Kingdom to the United Nations, Dr. Abdullah Al- Moallemi, said that he was following up this matter with the UN Secretary General.
Dr. Wakar Uddin pointed out that al-Moallemi raised the question of Rohingya at the closed door session of the Security Council in March this month.
