Cavusoglu discusses with Annan the situation in Arakan

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu held a telephone conversation with former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan on the attacks against Arakan Muslims in Myanmar.
Turkish diplomatic sources told Anadolu that Cavusoglu discussed with Annan about the situation in Arakan (Rakhine) province, as the latter as chairman of the Advisory Committee on the Territory.

The commission headed by Annan issued a report on the fact-finding of violence against the Rohingya Muslims in Arakan.
Since August 25th, two days after Annan’s report was handed over to the Myanmar government, the Myanmar army has begun using excessive force against the Rohingya Muslims, according to media reports.
According to the European Rohingya Council, last Monday, army attacks killed between two thousand and three thousand Muslims in army attacks in three days.
