President Abdul Hamid is going to visit Kutupalong Rohingya camp at Ukhia upazila in Cox’s Bazar and also inaugurate a programme of the Bangladesh Navy there.
‘In the afternoon, Abdul Hamid will also distribute relief materials among the displaced Rohingyas, who took shelter inside Bangladesh territory being the worst victims of the crackdown carried out by the Myanmar military force,’ president’s press secretary Joynal Abedin said.
The president will speak to the Rohingya people and listen to their stories of plights during his two-day visit at Cox’s Bazar, he said.
Abdul Hamid is scheduled to visit the Rohingya camp at the moment when Bangladesh has signed a deal with Myanmar for Rohingyas’ repatriation.
Since August 25, more than 600,000 Rohingyas took shelter in Bangladesh. Earlier, on several occasions, 400,000 Rohingyas had been forced to take shelter in Bangladesh.
On Monday, president Hamid will inaugurate Indian Ocean Naval Symposium’ Multilateral Maritime Search Rescue Exercise -2017 at Hotel Royal Tulip adjacent to the Inani Beach of Cox’s Bazar, said a spokesman of Bangladesh Navy.
He said warships, navy chiefs, high officials and maritime experts of some 32 countries, including nine observers, would attend the programme.
President would return to Bangabhaban in the afternoon day after tomorrow, the press secretary added.
