ARU delegation meets minority official of OIC

A delegation from the Arakan Rohingya Union (ARU) met with OIC Minority Officer Mr. Hassan Abidin at the organization’s headquarters in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
During the meeting, the delegation reviewed the recent events against Rohingya Muslims in Arakan State of Myanmar and the serious human rights violations witnessed by the State, as well as exploring ways to resolve this issue urgently.

The ARU delegation spoke about the situation of the Rohingya refugees in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Bangladesh and other countries hosting refugees, and addressed the poor political situation faced by Rohingya refugees in India with the racist discourse led by extremist political parties in Jammu.

For his part, Abidin praised the efforts by the Union to restore the citizenship rights of Rohingya and to raise awareness of their cause in the world and to represent them politically in front international forums, organizations and international bodies.

Abidin called on the delegation to stand behind to invest their efforts under the umbrella of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
