The Rohingya activist, Ms. Wai wai Nu participated in the regular session of the Human Rights Council and spoke about inhumane violations against Rohingya Muslims in Arakan, Myanmar.
The activist confirmed the reports published by the United Nations envoy to Myanmar, Ms. Yanghee Lee, on serious violations in Arakan province and strongly supported calls by the envoy and the High Commissioner to set up an international commission of inquiry.
The activist expressed concern that the security forces in Myanmar had deliberately targeted Rohingya people, deliberately destroyed their homes and property, confiscated their belongings, committed violent crimes and raped women also slaughter Rohingya children.
The activist criticized the committees set up by Myanmar military and security forces to investigate these abuses by the forces that lacked credibility and integrity.
The activist called on the council to set up a fact-finding committee in Arakan and other states under violations, urging the government to end its military operations in Arakan state and allow humanitarian access to all areas.
