The Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies organized an analytical seminar on the Rohingya crisis in 2017, which highlighted events from August 2017 to January 2018.
The seminar was chaired by Munshi Fayez Ahmed, President of the Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies, and Amina Mohsen of the Department of International Relations, University of Dhaka.
According to the newspaper The Daily Star, four papers were presented at the symposium, three of which were by the researchers of the Institute, namely Nabila Jahan Joey, Ms. Rumi Aktar and Ms. Tasmia Nohia Ahmed, who spoke in these three papers about the importance of the reactions of Bangladesh and the international community to the crisis Rohingya, as well as the issue of the repatriation of the Rohingya under international law.
The fourth paper was presented by Dr. Yasmine Lilofar, Professor of International Relations, University of Dhaka, who spoke about the prospects and challenges of coordinating the relationship between Bangladesh and the Rohingya communities in Coxs-Bazar, and how the community responded from August 2017 to date.
Professor Mohsen emphasized that the demands of the Rohingya should be included not only in the agreement but also in the international community, and stressed that creating a favorable environment in Arakan was critical to ensuring their safe return.
Myanmar must be brought before international tribunals for crimes against humanity.
