Local police officers in the city of Maungdaw held a meeting on Monday with the elders of the villages outside the city and some of the decisions taken at the meeting amid the threat of severe repressive measures in case.
One of the locals said in a telephone interview to Arakan News Agency that The meeting resulted in three major decisions forced upon the Muslims, are to carry out repair expenses on some of the ruined roads due to the recent tensions in addition to taking the pledge verbally that Rohingya people fleeing nearby village of Hawarbil should not receive any aid or any kind of support and also to hand over any gunman enters the villages.
Agency reporter explained that these officers are in the city since the start of the recent tensions and stressed at the end of the meeting that any violation of these decisions will be followed by arbitrary strict procedures on those people and will not be tolerated by officers.
