Seven people were killed while other four were injured, Thursday, due to Myanmar army aerial and artillery strikes on Kyauktaw town in Arakan state, Western Myanmar.

Arakan News Agency reporter stated that Ywar Ma ward, under the control of the Arakan Army (AA), was hit with two bombs and six rounds of artillery, as other areas were also targeted and attacked during the assault.
Ywar Ma ward was also hit by an airstrike, Wednesday, that targeted a road west of Shwe Kyaung Monastery resulting in the deaths of three civilians and inflicting injuries to other, according to local residents.
Although the Myanmar junta has announced a temporary ceasefire until the end of May, it continues to carry out airstrikes on the Arakan region. These attacks come just two days after 37 people were killed and injured in Myanmar military airstrikes on the village of Htun Ya Wai in Rathedaung, Arakan State.

Airstrikes continue on Rakhine State and other parts of the country despite the ceasefire the army announced till the end of May, renewing it for the third time since the devastating earthquake that struck the country on March 28.
In November 2023, AA launched a military campaign against the Myanmar military to seize control of the state, seizing control of 14 of the 17 towns. The conflict has also engulfed the Rohingya, subjecting them to violence, forced displacement, and persecution from both sides. They were subjected to a “genocidal” campaign by the Myanmar military in 2017, which forced nearly a million of them to flee to neighboring Bangladesh.
